Our website is kdshuskyrescueaz.com. This policy covers that site and the applications submitted through it.

That address reaches her inbox directly; it exists so a privacy question does not sit behind everything else, and so it keeps working if the role ever changes hands.
We are volunteers. Nobody here is paid and there is no office — which matters, because it means a small number of named people handle what you send us.
We never take payment on this website
We do not process donations and we do not hold your card or bank details. Every way of giving on our Donate page hands you to an outside service — Zeffy, Every.org, PayPal, GoFundMe, Zelle, Venmo, Cash App, Arizona Gives, Fry’s, Chewy, Max & Neo or Amazon — and your payment happens there, under their privacy policy, not ours. No financial information ever reaches this site.
If you only read the site
We keep our own count of which pages get visited, so we know whether anyone is seeing the dogs. It records the page, the site you arrived from, your approximate location from your IP address, and your browser and device type.
That software runs on our own equipment. No advertising company, analytics company or data broker receives anything about your visit, because none of them are involved. We do not advertise and we do not track you across other websites.
We set no tracking cookies. Our analytics is configured to run without them, so there is nothing to consent to and nothing to switch off.
One cookie is set, and we would rather name it than let you find it. Our site sits behind Cloudflare, a security service that filters malicious traffic before it reaches us. Cloudflare sets a cookie called cf_clearance recording that your browser passed its check, so you are not challenged repeatedly. It is necessary for the site to work safely and it is not used to track you or to build a profile.
WordPress also sets a cookie when one of our volunteers signs in to the admin area — never for ordinary visitors.
If you apply to adopt, foster or volunteer
We collect a great deal, because deciding whether a dog will be safe with you is not something we can do from a name and an email address. What we ask, and why:
About you — your name, home address, phone numbers, email, employer or school and an emergency contact number, and confirmation of your age. So we can identify you, reach you, and know the dog is going to an adult who can care for it.
About your home — whether you own or rent, the type of home, whether the yard is fenced and locked, whether there is a pool, and any HOA or landlord restrictions on pets. Because a husky will leave through a fence most dogs would not attempt, and because a placement that breaks your tenancy fails for everyone.
About your household — everyone who lives with you, their ages if under 25, and whether they agree to the dog. Because everyone in the home lives with this decision.
About your animals — every pet already there, and any acquired later. Because introductions have to be planned, and because an unvetted dog entering a home with other animals is a risk we will not ask anyone to take.
About your circumstances — your work hours, and where the dog will be when you are home and when you are not. Because a bored husky rearranges your house.
Your references — at least two people, with names, phone numbers and email addresses. We contact them. That is the point of asking.
Your landlord, property manager or HOA contact — name, phone and email. So we can confirm you are permitted to have the dog.
Your signature and your acknowledgements — a typed or drawn signature, and the policy clauses you agree to, including liability for damage to person or property. Because these are agreements, and they have to be recorded as agreed.
Children
We do not knowingly collect information directly from anyone under 13, and our applications are for adults.
But children’s details do reach us, through you. Our forms ask for everyone living in the home and their ages if under 25 — so if you have children, we end up holding their first names and ages. We ask for nothing else about them, we never contact them, and their details are seen only by the volunteers assessing your application. They are kept and deleted on exactly the same schedule as the rest of your application.
People you name who never visited this site
When you give us your references, your landlord, your property manager or your HOA contact, you are handing us someone else’s details, not your own. Please make sure they are content for you to do that, because we will be contacting them.
If you are one of those people and you would rather we did not hold your details, write to [email protected] and we will remove them.
Embedded content
Some pages include material hosted elsewhere — video, maps, social media, giving buttons. Those behave as if you had visited that other site directly, and the company behind them may set cookies and record your visit. We do not control that and we cannot see it. Their policies apply, not ours.
Who else sees what you send
Almost nobody, and that is deliberate.
Applications are stored in this website’s own database on our own server, and read by the small number of rescue volunteers who assess them.
Beyond that:
- Our hosting provider, which necessarily stores the server the site runs on.
- Our email delivery service, which carries messages between us and you.
- Your references, landlord, property manager or HOA, whom we contact — that is why we asked.
- Our partner veterinarians, who receive the name and phone number of a foster or
volunteer caring for one of our dogs, so they can reach the person the dog is actually with. We do not give vets your address. If you keep using that practice after adopting and they come to hold more of your details, that is your own arrangement with them, not something we passed on.
- Where the law requires it, such as a court order or a lawful request from authorities.
We do not sell your personal information. We have never sold it, we do not trade or rent it, and we do not share it for anyone’s marketing.
If you tick the marketing consent box on a form, we will email you ourselves about the rescue. You can stop that at any time by replying and saying so, or by writing to the address above.
Nothing here is decided by a computer
No application is scored, filtered or rejected automatically. Every one is read by a person.
How long we keep it
- Applications that led to a placement — kept indefinitely. Our adoption contract requires
that a dog comes back to us if the placement ever ends, with no time limit. We cannot honour that without the record, for the whole of that dog’s life.
- Applications that were declined or withdrawn — 3 years, then deleted.
- Website analytics — 12 months, then deleted.
- Emails you send us are kept for as long as needed to deal with what you wrote about.
Where your information is stored
On servers in the United States. We do not transfer your information outside the United States.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- show you what we hold about you;
- correct anything wrong or incomplete;
- delete it;
- give you a copy in a portable, machine-readable format;
- stop using it in a particular way, or object to a use;
- withdraw consent you previously gave, including for marketing;
- remove your details if somebody else named you as a reference or a contact.
Write to [email protected], or to the postal address above, and we will respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm you are who you say you are before we act — especially for deletion, because the alternative is deleting someone’s records for them.
Some things we may have to keep. A signed adoption contract remains a contract, and we cannot delete our side of it while the dog it covers is placed and alive.
If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy request, you may complain to the Arizona Attorney General’s Office.
Security, honestly
The site is kept up to date, admin accounts require two-factor authentication, traffic is encrypted in transit, and applications are readable only by the volunteers who need them.
We are a small volunteer organisation and we will not pretend to guarantees we cannot make. No method of transmission over the internet, and no method of electronic storage, is completely secure. We protect your information with what is reasonable and appropriate for what we hold, and we do not claim more than that.
If personal information is exposed, we will tell the people affected and the Arizona Attorney General as Arizona law requires, without unreasonable delay, and we will say plainly what happened and what was involved.
Changes to this policy
A policy is a description of what we actually do, so when what we do changes, this changes. If it changes materially we will update the date at the top and post the new version here.
